MONSERRAT
It is the district where the most important moments of the Argentinean history had happened and will happen. It is the union of two squares which have been the papers on which our history was written. The first, Plaza de Mayo, lodges the Pirámide de Mayo, the Monument of Manuel Belgrano, the Pink House or House of Government, the Town Hall and the Metropolitan Cathedral. The second one is called Plaza de los Congresos in which we found the Congress.

Government House
The House of Government was built in1580 by Juan de Garay, constituting the Argentine seat of the national government since the “Primera Junta” (the First Council) in 1810. Its particular color was a decision made by the ex- president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento who in 1873 ordered to paint it in this color symbolizing the union between two political groups, the Federals represented by the red color, and the Unitarians represented by the white.
May Square
