Surviving violence, forced emigration and illnesses has become an everyday battle that has to be fought so as not to die in Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Somalia and other places. Since 2001, MSF has settled in Argentina, and has been sending doctors, nurses and obstetricians to the most conflictive and neglected places in the World in order to cooperate with the utmost humanitarian task of helping the needy.
Around 3000 professionals joined this humanitarian cause, and have worked not only in Peru with the victims of the earthquake, but also with the people affected by the Ebola outbreak in Uganda, and when a devastating cyclone hit Myanmar (former Birmania).
Independent from any political, economic, or religious authority, this organization won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.
Argentines that already belong to MSF must be considered heroes of our time, thus deserving our deepest respect for taking care of such praiseworthy and unselfish work.

Invap |
 |
 |
Invap, the only Argentine company qualified by NASA for space projects, has started up during August 2006, the nuclear OPAL reactor (Open Pool Australian Light Water Reactor).
Beyond its cost - 200 million dollars – it is the most important project that the company has produced so far.
Great part of the INVAP success is due to the excellent interaction among the national scientific technological system: the CONAE, the CNEA, the CITEFA and other universities. In this case, it is a "turn-key” production, to be settled at Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization center in Sydney and that will be used for the scientific research in health, environment and industry, producing radioisotopes for medicinal purposes.
When these radioactive isotopes form a chemical compound, they ‘mark’ them, allowing following its trajectory through the measurement of the reactivity, with extremely sensible methods. Thus, the operation of any organ of the human body can be verified, such as the blood supply to the heart, with the greater accuracy.
The official inauguration is planed for April 2007, and it is considered the greatest contribution to the nuclear medicine of Australia in next the 40 years. This important technological progress that is essential for science, along with the construction of space satellites which are some of them already in operation; the nucleus-electrical generation whose axis is the completion of Atucha II and Dam, the power uranium enrichment of Pilcaniyeu, and other projects, give back to Argentina the generation of nuclear energy, so revalued in all the orders and of strategic importance at world-wide level. |

Dr. Mirta Roses. Director of the OPS |
 |
 |
Paramedic doctor specialized in addition in surgery and epidemiology, this woman from the province of Cordoba who has a little more than 60 years, directs since 2003 the Pan-American Health Organization (OPS, settled in Washington), and whose motto is "Health for all ". Obviously, the public health is her greatest preoccupation, oriented towards the population in general and the individual in particular, being the children and the young people the first ones to consider, since they represent the weakest groups. With respect to Argentina, she considers that in spite of being a federal country, we still have great inequalities, among them the lack of infrastructure, next to the little vocation among the new graduated doctors to settle down in the provinces. On the other hand, it is true that there are many social factors that contribute to improve the public health such as local community groups that collaborate with the hygiene of their own district or create socialization spaces to make recreational activities that improve their quality of life.
From creating more green spaces to quitting smoking, everything contributes to the public health. Moreover, the most important matter is to stress the high number on infantile mortality that we still have in our country. This is a daily fight, her passion and her great merit. An Argentinean who stands out by her work in the world and that we can be proud.
